Rational functions are written in the form . In this investigation you will become familiar with the unique shape of these functions, as well as, develop an understanding of how a, h, and k change the shape of the graph. The Parent Function is graphed as a dashed red curve. There are special features of rational functions called asymptotes. These are lines that the rational function graph gets very close to but never touches. In the graph these appear as dashed gray lines. Using the sliders, determine how a, h, and k affect the graph of .
