Rates of change of sin(x) and cos(x)

Instructions

Use the check boxes on the right to show sin(x) or cos(x). Click on the blue point and drag it to show the rates of change at each point on the graph.

Question 1

Show y = sin(x) and then drag the blue point around to see what the plot of all the rates of change looks like... Do you recognize it? Hide the sin(x) graph by clicking the check box. Now click the y = cos(x) check box... What do you notice?

Question 2

Something similar happens with the rates of change of y = cos(x). Investigate what is happening. Can you describe what is happening?
