ODE Solution checker (up to third order)

  1. Enter the left- and right-hand sides of the differential equation in the text boxes on the top right. Use v (velocity) instead of y', a instead of y'' and j (jerk) instead of y'''. Hit enter (not tab) after each entry.
  2. Enter a potential solution in the text box. Hit enter (not tab) when done. Adjust the viewing window to show the graph of the potential solution and the point P on the graph of this function.
  3. Drag the point P along the graph. As you do so, Geogebra will determine if the ODE is satisfied by the function at P.
  4. If you are checking the solution to an IVP, drag the point P to x0 check if the initial conditions are satisfied.
