Brooks's Angle Trisection

In his 2007 College Mathematics Journal article "A new method of trisection," David Alan Brooks proved that if is tangent to the circle with center and radius , and (in the figure above), then His proof used trigonometry. Is there a geometric proof? Let me know if you find one!
