Graphing Geometry

How to use

The idea is to connect geometry to algebra by way of variables. (1) Start off moving point B. The point on the graph is located at the point (c, t1) where "c" is the length of the segment connecting A and B (across from angle C). t1 is the area of the triangle. As you move B the length of c changes and the area (t1) changes. What do we notice about the graph? (2) To erase the graph just click and drag the graph up and down slightly. (3) Experiment with ways of getting different graphs (e.g., try moving A to a different place, try starting with C in a different place, then move B). (4) Experiment with ways of getting the same graph but with vertices A or C starting in different places. ** The curved back arrow at the top of the screen will allow you to "undo" your actions. ** Sometime it is easier to simply reload this page.
