Sphere packing

Spheres stacked into a tetrahedron (triangular-based pyramid). Use the sliders on the left to:
  • change the numbers of spheres
  • show/hide the bounding tetrahedron (the smallest tetrahedron containing all the spheres)
  • show/hide the inner tetrahedron (vertices at the centres of spheres)
  • highlight square-based pyramids
(The fourth option - highlighting square-based pyramids - was my initial reason for making the app. I had been told that the tetrahedron configuration contained square-based pyramids, but found this difficult to visualise.) What questions could you ask?
