Spherical Coordinates: Dynamic Illustrator

Students: You can use this applet to help you better visualize plotting points in 3-space on a SPHERE. (Hence, the name spherical coordinates). Spherical coordinates are expressed in the form . For and , this applet uses units of RADIANS. The ORANGE POINT = THE POINT YOU'RE PLOTTING. How can we describe what each of the 3 coordinates tells us? (Explain as best you can in your own words). To explore in Augmented Reality, see the directions below this applet.

TO EXPLORE IN AUGMENTED REALITY:

1) Open up GeoGebra 3D app on your device. 2) Go to MENU (3 horizontal bars in upper left hand corner). 3) Select OPEN. Under search, type the ID of this resource (from URL): h9xS5ZZs 4) If you want to see the sphere, scroll down in the algebra window and type true for parameter j. (j is currently defaulted to "false"). The filling slider controls the shading of this sphere. 5) The sliders a, b, and c control , , and , respectively. Slider e will animate the plotting of this point in this 3-dimensional coordinate system.
