  • the white spaces will be cut out; leaving the black lines behind.
  • keep the lines thick b/c the thickness of the laser beam comes entirely from the black lines.
  • take a screen shot when you like your design
  • import screenshot into Inkscape
  • with image selected, Path -> Trace bitmap
  • Brightness steps; 2; OK
  • Extensions -> Lasercut Path -> Open in VisiCut
  • put your piece of wood in the engraver
  • in Visicut, (zoom as necessary) resize and move to an appropriate location on screen to match where you want to cut from your piece of wood
  • Mapping -> Map by single property -> map by color
  • click to enable the lightest gray only and leave it set to cut
  • Laser Settings -> Power = 100; Speed = 15
  • Connect computer to laser engraver and power up (ask if you aren't 100% sure how this goes)
  • print (cmd-P)
  • follow instructions on screen (with lid open if you need to check placement but not cut yet; lid closed to actually cut)
