Bearing Activity Class II
Description
Create and solve a 3 points bearing problem, with two known distances and the angle between them selected by the student. The bearing of one of the points from another is also selected by the student.
Once the problem is created, students can proceed to find the unknown distance, angles and bearings between all points triangle.
For values of the base length (a < 12), the student can check his answers using a Reveal checkbox.
Teachers can create assignments by selecting a base length a > 12, where the answers are not available in the activity.
Student Practice
Use the sliders to set the distance AB to any value between (2 and 11) then set the bearing of B from A to any value of your choice
Similarly, set the distance and bearing of C from B using the sliders
You now have your Bearing problem ready to be solved.
Exploration:
1- Show that distance AC is equal to the value displayed on the figure.
find the followings:
2- Angle ABC
3- The bearing of A from C.
4- The shortest distance from B to AC. (Drag point F to verify your answer)
Click on Reveal Values to check your answers.
