Task:

Manipulate the Kite image above to help you understand how the shape can be visualized. Questions: 1. What is the shape that you have created when all triangles are mirrored. 2. What is the length of the new shape, what is the new width? 3. What is the formula for the area of the new shape? 4. How many of the Kite's will fit into the new shape? 5. Using the measurements a and b on the diagram, create a formula for the Area of a Kite. 6. Change the sliders so that a = 5 and b = 10. What is the area of the Kite you have created?
