G.3.7.3 Triangles and Similarity

Topic:
Triangles

Using the given information to write a sequence of rigid motions and dilations that will take one triangle onto another:

  • Angle C is congruent to angle F.
  • Angle A is congruent to angle D.
You can use these sentence frames to help you:
  • Translate shape ___ by vector ___
  • Rotate shape ___ about point ___ by angle ___ (use 3 letters) so that ___ coincides with ___ (if needed)
  • Reflect shape ___ over line ___ (if needed)
  • Dilate shape ___ using center point ___ and scale factor ___
Because we don't have a picture, we can't know if the rotation and reflection are needed. So, we add those steps in and then add the phrase (if needed) at the end.
