Definition of Absolute Value

The absolute value of a number is the distance that the number is from the origin on a number line. You can use the Big Blue dot to change the number. The absolute value of the number will be displayed to the user. The absolute value of a number is not positive or negative, it is non-negative! It has no sign/direction ever.
This applet can be used by teachers in a demonstration mode in the classroom or teachers can have students load it on their own computers as a worksheet to be completed for a grade.
