3.7 - Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Investigation
Use the Applet to investigate Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
1) Make sure that "Show Coordinates" and "Show Axes" is checked on the right side.
2) Below, press the 6th button with the green triangle.
3) Select the black line that is graphed. The slope will be displayed, copy the slope onto your hand out.
4) Press the 4th button (Parallel Line).
5) Put a point anywhere on the graph.
6) Press the black line again. A new line through the white point you made should appear.
7) Press the 6th button again.
8) Press the new line you just created.
9) What do you notice about the slope of these two lines?
10) Press the 5th button (Perpendicular lines)
