Ak Saray - geometrical pattern - gp

Image
On the inside of the entrance gate there's a pattern with 6-pointed stars. Remarkably the attention isn't draw to the stars but to the surroundig haxagons. And only when zoomin into the stars one notice it's not the common pattern of hexagons around 6-pointed stars. The placing of some rhombuses between the hexagons generate regular(orange) as well as irregular 6-pointed stars with an equilateral triangle in the middle (yellow and orange). The result is a pattern with light coloured hexagons on a blue background that's more fascinating than than not using rhomuses. in the applet below you can see that a tiling is created with regular and irregular hexagons.
