Bisect line segment AB.

Steps. 1. Center your compass at A so that it measures more than half way to B. Draw arcs above and below segment AB. 2. Using the same compass measurement as step 1, center your compass at B. Draw two arcs above and below segment AB so that they intersect the arcs from step 1. Name these intersection points C and D. 3. Draw line CD. 4. Name the intersection of line segment AB and line segment CD, point M. 5. CD is a segment bisector of segment AB.
