Plotting Grid Coordinates

What are the sailboat's grid coordinates?

What are the sailboat's grid coordinates?

OBJECTIVE: To practice plotting Cartesian point coordinates on a GeoGebra sheet

In a previous lesson, you learned how to plot point coordinates on the Cartesian plane. This lesson will provide you some practice at plotting Cartesian coordinates on a GeoGebra sheet using the Point tool and connecting the dots using the Line Segment tool.

How to Plot Points and Draw Line Segments

Plot these points on the GeoGebra sheet below using thePoint tool and connect the dots using the Line Segment tool.
x-214118 4 0 -2 -2 -2
y-7-7-151423272314

x-2-2-2-5-6-17-16-12 0
y 5-1-8-8-9 -9-11-15-15

x 16 16 15 15 10 7-2
y-15-14-13-11-11-8-8

Use the Move Graphics View tool, the Zoom In tool and the Zoom Out tool to adjust your working area. You will need at least 27 units above and 15 units below the x-axis, and at least 20 units on either side of the y-axis.

QUESTION: What object did you form by connecting the dots?

TODAY you practiced plotting Cartesian coordinates on a GeoGebra sheet using the Point tool and learned to connect points using the Line Segment tool.

In the future, you'll learn how to do more complicated Geometric constructions. Let's look forward to that!
