Duplicate a Line Segment

Directions

Duplicate the segment AB using the method we used on class. The Ray Tool (Toolbar Image) will make a straight ray, so you do not need a straightedge tool. Use the Compass Tool (Toolbar Image) for the compass. When you are done, measure both segments with the Toolbar Image tool and verify that your new segment is always the same length as the original segment AB. You may move the points A and B with the Toolbar Image tool.

Conclusion Question

How do you know that the segment you created is congruent to Segment AB? Remember, measuring doesn't prove anything, what part of the construction process allows you to deductively reason that the two segments are congruent?
