Straight line motion and calculus 2
Straight line Motion is demonstrated with a car on a number line which obeys the 3 related formulae for Displacement, Velocity and Acceleration as it travels over time. You can specify the values for acceleration, the initial velocity and the initial displacement to be used in the motion formulae. You set the car in motion with the play button or time slider.
Graphs of the instantaneous displacement and velocity can be displayed as the car moves.
Can you make the car travel forwards only? Backwards only?
Can you make the car travel forwards, then slow down, and then go backwards?
Can you vary the starting position on the number line? note the corresponding graph as the car moves.
