Connecting volume of cylinder and cone

This applet shows a cylinder and a cone with identical radii and heights. Make the height 2.6 (or close) and the radius 1.2 (or close). When you move the slider Transfer Water we visualize the cone being filled with water and emptying this water into the cylinder.

How high does the water transferred from the cone reach inside the cylinder? How does this connect to the formulas shown on the applet.

Practice 1

Set the height to 2 units and the radius to 0.9, let's assume the units are cm What are the volumes for the cylinder and the cone respectively?

Select all that apply

Practice 2

If a cone has a volume of 35.7 L, what is the volume of a cylinder with the same radius and height? Explain your thinking.
