Potential Difference Between Two Points of a Wire

In this dynamic model the electrical potential is visualised using different colours and intensities. A battery with a nominal voltage maintains potential difference by pumping electrons from one part of the circuit and pumping them into another. Consequently, there is always a maximum potential difference of blue and red at the poles and different electrical potential at various points within an electrical resistance such as a thin wire. The voltage between two points of the wire can be explained by the potential difference .

Instructions

  • Put the model on your circuit as described on the AR instructions page
  • Set according to your voltage source and align the line with the wire
  • Measure the voltages between two points of the wire
  • Move the points in the model and check their potential difference
