ArchimedeanSpiral

The Spiral Ripple Effect

As the spiral spins, it appears to spread out. When the spiral is composed of osculating circles and the whole disk spins, it appears as if the core circle oscillates around to make a spiral wave rippling out. This effect shows the relativity between rotational and translational transformations (when viewed in a narrow and long window). This is the 2D version of the Screw-in Effect. See the Spiral Zooming Effect for the relativity between rotational and scaling transformations.
