G.2.7.4 What Do We Know For Sure About Parallelograms?

Quadrilateral ABCD is a parallelogram. By definition, that means that segment AB is parallel to segment CD, and segment BC is parallel to segment AD. Constuct parallelogram ABCD - Don’t forget you have tools to help you construct a parallelogram—don’t just draw something that sort of looks like a parallelogram—draw an actual parallelogram. Then draw an auxiliary line to show how ABCD can be decomposed into 2 triangles.

Are the two triangles you created congruent? How do you know?

What conclusions can you draw about parallelograms from this diagram?
