Speed Time Graph for Self Directed Learning
Use the interactive applet for visual understanding of speed time graphs.
This applet can model any given text problems of up to 3 distinct parts of a total journey.
Original version at https://www.geogebra.org/m/YpTfUB6Z
The horizontal in time units can be taken to be in seconds, minutes or hours.
The vertical is distance units, so it can be taken to be in metres or kilometres per unit time.
Some questions based on initial diagram of applet for your self discovery
1. Find the distance travelled (units) for the first 20 units of time.
2. Does the car turn back between BC and CD?
Some questions/situations for you to explore.
3. Alter the speed time graph such that the total distance travelled remains at 800 units, but the horizontal time units between B and C is 40 time units.
4. If you merge points B and C, ie. they are at coordinates (30, 20), what is the total distance units travelled?
