This applet illustrates the concept of Riemann sums and how it approximates the area bounded by a curve with equation y=f(x), the x-axis and the lines x=a and x=b.
Students can adjust the function f(x), the bounds a and b as well as the number of rectangles used. The left and right sums can be toggled on or off to facilitate explanation.
