Exploring Translations

FIRST, SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE SIGNED INTO YOUR JCPS ACCOUNT.

On the coordinate plane below, follow these directions:

1. Plot Triangle ABC with coordinates: A(3,1), B(4,4), and C(6,1). 2. If you translate Triangle ABC left 4, up 1, graph Triangle A'B'C'. 3. If you translate Triangle A'B'C' according to this rule: (x-1, y+1), graph Triangle A''B''C''. 4. If you perform this transformation: T<6,0>(Triangle A''B''C''), graph Triangle A'''B'''C'''. 5. Finally, make sure each triangle is a different color and check the area of each triangle.

What are the coordinates of each triangle?
