The Pirate Treasure Story
A pirate buried his treasure according to the following directions:
Select a starting point. Walk towards tree A, turn right, and walk the same distance away from tree A. Mark this spot.
Go back to your starting point. Walk towards tree B, turn left, and walk the same distance away from tree B. Mark this spot.
The treasure is located at the midpoint of the two spots you marked.
Construction Steps
- Place a point anywhere in the plane.
- Rotate this point 90 degrees counter-clockwise around point A.
- Rotate your starting point 90 degrees clockwise around point B.
- Construct the midpoint of these two rotated points. This is the location of the treasure.
