The Multiplication Parabola

We are given two points on the parabola, y = x^2 , one left and one right of the vertex. The absolute value of the product of the x-coordinates of these two points, is the same as the y-coordinate of the y-intercept of the line passing through those same two points. Can you write a proof to confirm this result?
