Copy of ACCESS - Chord Length

BC and DE are chords on circle A. The dashed lines from A to the chords indicate the distance from the chords to the center of the circle. Drag the points to adjust the chords. 1. Make BC and DE equal. How are their distances from the center related? 2. Make BC larger than DE. Is it closer to the center or farther from the center. 3. Slider r shows the radius of the circle. Try to get the distance from A of DE equal to the radius. Is DE large or small? 4. What is the furthest that DE or BC could be from A? How does this relate to r? 5. Adjust DE so that it is as long as possible. What is its distance from A? How is the length of DE related to r now?
