Section 3.1 Apex-Absolute Extreme Values

You can select new problems and get new functions to work with or you can enter your own function. A random interval is provided, but you can move the right and left endpoints of the interval by moving the points labeled Left and Right. The goal is to place the points Min and Max at the correct location on the graphs. If we see the graph first this is EASY. Do we notice a pattern about where the min and max always seem to occur. Notice for the min and the max there is the x-coordinate of the point (where the extreme value occurs) and the y-coordinate (the actual extreme value). Ultimately our goal is to do it from the function and interval itself. Can we use what we learned about the pattern to analyze the function to determine where the extreme values should be? Move the points there and then look at the graph to see if you are correct.
