Simple Linear Regression

This demonstration illustrates how the solution by ordinary least squares minimizes the sum of squared residuals.
The initial positions of the ten points are based on the sample dataset in the handout. Try to do these: 1) Move the two crosses to specify your line for prediction. See how the coefficients and the sum of squared residuals (SS_{Residual}) change. 2) Move the data points and see how SS_{Residual} changes. You can reset the points to the sample dataset by refreshing this page. The check box toggles the display of the ordinary least squares (OLS) solution. Navigation: 1) You can also use mouse wheel to zoom in and zoom out the graphs. 2) In the 3D graph, hold the middle mouse button and move the mouse to change the orientation.
