Illustration of surface area of a sphere

Explanations

The surface area of a sphere is 4.Pi.R² so I split the surface of the sphere in four regions of equal area by inflating the blue regular tetrahedron onto it. Then the four spherical triangles are projected in some way onto a red circle of radius R. The four red discs have an area of Pi.R².
