Trapezoids

Observe all parts of the trapezoid. Compare them to the properties in your notes.
  • In particular, look at the various angle measures, note all observations: base angles on the same base, consecutive angles on different bases - what do you notice?
  • Keep in mind, when two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, same-side interior angles are supplementary.
  • How does this theorem apply to the trapezoid. After completing your observations for the standard trapezoid, click the box next to Trapezoid and the box next to Isosceles Trapezoid to reveal the isosceles trapezoid.
  • Observe all parts of the isosceles trapezoid. Compare them to the properties in your notes.
  • In particular, look at the various angle measures, note all observations: base angles on the same base, consecutive angles on different bases - what do you notice, and how is this different from the standard trapezoid?
