Experimenting with Surfaces of Revolution

This applet explores the surface of revolution obtained by rotating a curve about any axes in 3D.
  • Enter the parametric equation of the curve x= f(t) and y=g(t), enter also an interval for t.
  • Drag the sliders for the polar angle θ, and the angle φ between the z-axis and the axis of rotation (the yellow line) to select different positions for that axis.
  • See the special cases for the axis of rotation: in any of the coordinate planes and on the coordinate axes.
