Worksheet 0
This worksheet is useful to practice some basic GeoGebra Tools.
In the following every time we want to use a precise GeoGebra tool, we will use capital letters
Views
There are several "views" of an object.
For instance in the following we see the segment f= AB in the views:
- algebra: endpoints A, B, with their coordinates, segment f with its definition and lenght
- geometry: segment f, you can move and modify
- spreadsheet: lenght of segment f as a number to eventually manipulate.
MOVE (tool
) the segment f and points A and B in the geometry view and observe how the segment's elements change in the views.

Points
To draw a point in the geometry view, just use the POINT (
tool) on the screen.
To draw a point bound to an object, use the POINT ON OBJECT (
tool) on the chosen object.
To draw an intersection point, use the INTERSECT (
tool) on the two object you want to intersect.
Train yourself in the following applet (Draw points and move objects)

Points
Segments and lines
To draw a segment between two points, just use the SEGMENT (
tool) by clicking on the first and on the second point. Drawn segments can be modified by moving endpoints.
To draw a segment with a given lenght, use the SEGMENT OF GIVEN LENGHT (
tool): click on the first endpoint, then write the length of the segment. Drawn segments can be modified by moving the first endpoint everywhere and the second one on a circumference.
To draw a line, given two points, just use the LINE (
tool) by clicking consecutively on the two points.
To draw a line, that is parallel to a given line, use the PARALLEL LINE (
tool), by clicking on the given line and on the point you want the line passes through.
To draw a line, that is perpendicular to a given line, use the PERPENDICULAR LINE (
tool), by clicking on the given line and on the point you want the line passes through.
Train yourself: draw segments and lines

Circles
To draw a circle given the center and a point, use the CIRCLE WITH CENTER THROUGH POINT (
tool), by clicking first on the center and then to the point on the circle.
To draw a circle given the center and the radius, use the CIRCLE: CENTER & RADIUS (
tool) by clicking on the center, and insert the chosen radius.

PROPERTIES OF AN OBJECT
Given an object, you can choose to:
- Show/hide the object
- Show the trace of the object
- Change the object properties (colour, style, etc ...)
To Show/hide the object or Show the trace of the object, click on the object with the right key of the mouse.
To change properties use the style bar on the right of the window
Train yourself:
change colour of the point A,
choose dotted style for the segment BC,
hide point D,
SHOW THE TRACE of point E and then MOVE it.
